DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today announced a RM5.5 million allocation to help senior citizens and single mothers as well as to build two mosques in the Pasir Mas parliamentary constituency.

In addition, he also approved an allocation to build 647 ‘Rumah Bina Baharu’ (RBR) and repair 1,230 houses under the same programme.

Of the total, RM500,000 is allocated to help senior citizens and single mothers, RM4 million to build Masjid Bunut Susu’s new building and RM1 million to repair Masjid Iktikaf Kg Atas Pinggir, said Zahid in his speech at ‘An Evening with the People’ programme at Tendong Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) today.

Also present were Zahid’s wife Hamidah Khamis, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Pasir Mas Umno division chief Hanafi Mamat.

At the event, Zahid also handed over a mock cheque for RM1 million to Masjid Iktikaf Kg Atas Pinggir chairman Arifin Idris.

Zahid said the federal government helmed by the Barisan Nasional (BN) had never criticised Kelantan even though it was ruled by the opposition since 28 years ago.

He said BN had accepted the situation and had never intended to block any development in the state, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Razak and former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

But at the same time, he said the people of Kelantan should be grateful and thankful for all the development benefits being undertaken through various federal allocations.

“The people have to choose the people who give thanks and, as such, we feel the winds of change have come. Now is the time for us to take over Kelantan,” he added. – Bernama, February 24, 2018.
