HOME Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants immediate action to be taken to upgrade or repair dilapidated police barracks in Sabah, to safeguard security forces’ welfare.

He said despite the many stages that the application for “development expenditure” had to go through – from the district police headquarters to contingent police headquarters, on to Bukit Aman, his ministry and the Economic Planning Unit, and finally, the Finance Ministry – he hoped the matter would be acted on as soon as possible.

“Immediate action must be taken to safeguard the welfare of police personnel and their families,” he told reporters during a working visit to the Sabah contingent police headquarters in Kota Kinabalu today.

Present were Chief Minister Musa Aman and state deputy police commissioner Razarudin Husain.

Zahid said while he did not know how much allocation would be needed for the purpose, the amount should cover the barracks at 20 district police headquarters, as well as barracks of marine police, General Operations Force and Eastern Sabah Security Command personnel. – Bernama, February 19, 2018.
