THE Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry has recommended that each state in the country to come out with new tourism products to further strengthen the sector and attract more tourists, especially from abroad.

“Apart from local tourists, we also get requests from outside to highlight new (tourism) products in the country… there is a demand especially from India, they want to make Malaysia their wedding destination.

“Our constraint now is the lack of promotion, so after this pandemic we have to be more aggressive in promoting and highlighting (tourism) products, including the new ones,” Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri said today, adding that the depreciating ringgit against the US dollar was quite ‘isolated’.

“So far, in terms of tourist mobility it has not shown any effect, there may be an increase in the price of goods but from a tourism point of view it is isolated, our hotels are full.

“The ministry also provides subsidies in the form of tourism-related vouchers, to help reduce the burden and encourage tourists, especially domestic tourists, to travel,” she said. – Bernama, May 20, 2022.
