PKR polls heated in Kedah, smooth in Johor

THINGS got a little heated among PKR members in Kedah, as the party polls entered the second day today.

Voting for central leadership, division and wing posts started at 9am and ended at 5pm in Kedah and Johor.

In Kedah, the voting process involved 15 divisions, namely Alor Star, Baling, Jerai, Jerlun, Kuala Kedah, Kubang Pasu, Kulim-Bandar Baharu, Langkawi, Merbok, Padang Sera, Padang Terap, Pendang, Pokok Sena, Sik and Sungai Petani.

“Except for some verbal arguments, all went well,” said state elections committee coordinator Rashid Din.

“There were technical problems that caused delays in the polling process, but they were swiftly rectified.”

He said the Padang Serai division experienced a delay in voting due to dissatisfaction over several matters.

In Johor, the voting process at all 26 divisions went smoothly without any problem, said state PKR deputy chairman Jimmy Puah.

PKR elections committee chairman Zaliha Mustafa said the committee has agreed to postpone voting at five divisions in Kelantan, namely Bachok, Gua Musang, Ketereh, Pengkalan Chepa and Tumpat.

Party polls kicked off in Kelantan and Terengganu yesterday and will continue in Pahang and the Federal Territories tomorrow, followed by Perlis, Penang, Malacca and Negri Sembilan on Monday.

Selangor PKR will vote on May 21, while party members in Perak, Sabah and Sarawak will vote on May 22. Those abroad can vote online on May 17, while the rest can do so from May 18 to 20 via the Adil application. – Bernama, May 14, 2022.
