HEAVY traffic continues to build up on major highways and roads to the north, south and east coast of the peninsula, as the Hari Raya “balik kampung” exodus picks up pace.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported that traffic is becoming more congested on several stretches of the North-South Expressway as at 2pm.

In the north, congestion is reported over an 8.1km stretch from Bukit Tambun to Jawi, while south-bound traffic is slow from Pedas Linggi to Simpang Ampat.

On the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway, traffic is heavy after Sentul Pasar heading to Greenwood and the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway, as well as on the Middle Ring Road 2 heading to the Gombak toll plaza and Genting Sempah, and Bukit Tinggi to Lentang.
