THE Health Ministry will contact the next of kin of a woman who died of Covid-19 at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang last year to inform them of its findings, following the family’s complaint.

Selangor Health director Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said the 69-year-old deceased with comorbidities was treated at HTAR on October 25, 2021, and diagnosed with Covid-19 Category 4.

“The patient experienced complications following the infection and died on November 28, 2021. MOH sympathises with the family over her demise.”

He said the next of kin lodged a complaint via the Public Complaint Management System on January 13 and HTAR conducted investigations at various stages based on existing ministry guidelines.

However, the family have not said whether they are ready to meet HTAR, he added.

Dr Sha’ari said the next of kin can contact MOH Medical Practice Division, HTAR or the Selangor Health Department if they need information on the complaint management process.

Klang MP Charles Santiago, in a letter dated April 26 to the health minister, has requested a probe and feedback report on the case. – Bernama, April 29, 2022.
