Woman fined RM18,000 for selling, possessing uncertified equipment


A COMMUNICATION equipment shop owner is fined RM18,000 at two Sessions Courts in Butterworth, Penang, today, after pleading guilty to charges of possessing and selling equipment that are not certified by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Wang Wan Ling, 52, was fined RM8,000 in lieu of two months’ jail for possessing uncertified communication equipment in the court before judge Norhayati Mohamad Yunus.

She was charged with the possession of nine Pakite PAT225 brand wireless AV senders and seven Pakite PAT 535 brand wireless AV senders that are not certified by MCMC as required under the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000.

The offence was committed at Newfroggy Store, No 2, Jalan Perai Jaya 2, Bandar Prai Jaya in Prai at 3.09pm on September 10 last year.

Wang was fined RM10,000 in lieu of two months’ jail for selling uncertified communication equipment, namely a Pakite PAT 535 brand wireless AV sender, in the court before judge Noor Aini Yusof.

The offence was committed at the same shop at about 11am on March 9, 2020.

Wang, represented by lawyer Low She Warne, paid the fine.
