WARISAN will be contesting several parliamentary seats in the peninsula in the 15th general election (GE15), said party president Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The move will spread the Sabah-based party’s influence, following its peninsula debut in the Johor polls last month, he added.

“Not only do we want to defend our position in Sabah, but we are also ready to spread our wings in the peninsula,” he told reporters in Labuan yesterday.

Warisan’s top leadership will look into parliamentary constituencies that can be potential wins, he added.

On DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s statement on the opposition’s willingness to continue the memorandum of understanding between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the government after July 31, Shafie said Warisan has never supported the agreement.

“He has a right to his opinion. For me, I have been against it from the very beginning. That is why I did not sign the MOU.”

When debating on the royal address in Dewan Rakyat on March 10, Loke said PH is open to the idea of extending the MOU on transformation and political stability signed in September last year after it expires on July 31. – Bernama, April 23, 2022.
