PONTIAN MCA division chief Tee Siew Kiong has confirmed that he has been called to attend a hearing of the MCA Disciplinary Committee following his action to hold a press conference after not being named as a candidate in the Johor polls.

He said the hearing will be done online tomorrow.

“What I did was just apologise personally to my supporters and voters and tell them the truth about why I was not named as a candidate during the Johor polls.

“Therefore, I am confident I will not be found not guilty,” he said at a press conference at his office in Danga Bay, Johor Baru, today.

Tee, who was former adviser to Johor menteri besar Hasni Mohammad, also confirmed he received a letter from the MCA headquarters dated April 6 requesting that he attend the committee hearing.

He said even though he was not named as a candidate in the Johor polls, he was not disheartened. In fact, Tee said, he continued to give his wholehearted support and assist Barisan Nasional (BN) in Pontian during campaigning.

The three-term assemblyman for Pulai Sebatang also expressed his readiness to face any action that will be imposed on him.

In the March Johor polls, out of the 56 assembly seats contested, BN won 40 seats with Umno winning 33, MCA winning four, and MIC winning three.

The four seats won by MCA were by Ling Tian Soon (Yong Peng), Tan Eng Meng (Pekan Nanas), Lee Ting Han (Paloh) and Tan Chong (Bekok). – Bernama, April 21, 2022.
