More than 1.4 million kids aged 5-11 given Covid shots


More than 1.4 million children aged between five and 11 years have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, says the Health Ministry. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 17, 2022.

MORE than 1.4 million individuals or 39.5% of children aged between five and 11 years have received at least one dose of vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children as at yesterday.

According to the CovidNow website, more than 366,000 children or 10.3% of this group have been fully vaccinated.

For those aged between 12 and 17 years, more than 2.87 million individuals or 92.3% have completed their vaccination while more than 2.97 million or 95.6% have received at least one dose.

Among the adult population, more than 15.97 million individuals or 67.9% have received the booster shot while more than 22.96 million or 97.6% have completed their second dose and more than 23.23 million or 98.8% have received at least one jab.

Yesterday, 79,398 doses of vaccine were administered – 59,818 doses for second shot, 4,456 booster jabs and 15,124 doses for first shot – bringing to 69,570,045 the cumulative number of doses given out under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. – Bernama, April 17, 2022.
