THE Education Ministry must explain if SPM students were asked to talk about their dream wedding in their oral examination earlier this week, former deputy education minister Teo Nie Ching said today.
She said such a question was inappropriate for students who are just 17 years old.
“These students should not be thinking about marriages in the first place. There are many other important issues for them to face now, including their academic achievements and being able to pay for university.
“I urge the Education Ministry to clarify if such a question was part of the SPM oral examinations.
“If so, the ministry must apologise to all SPM students and their parents for making them answer this question,” she said in a statement, referring to social media posts from parents that their children sitting for SPM were asked in their oral exams to talk about the type of wedding they wanted to have. – February 13, 2022.
