Online court proceedings are here to stay, says chief justice

THE advent of online hearings is not merely a means to cope with the Covid-19 epidemic but a permanent feature of the judicial system, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat said.

She said virtual courts have now become an indelible aspect of the country’s system of advocacy and there is no question of reverting to the old ways of holding physical hearings.
