BERSATU youth is set to lodge a police report later today to seek the extradition of Rosmah Mansor after she failed to return to Malaysia by November 21 and attend her court hearing on December 2.

She is presently in Singapore after being given permission by the court to visit her daughter who delivered a child on November 1 in the republic.

The visit was to be for the period of October 22 till November 21.

Rosmah, the wife of ex-prime minister Najib Razak, is currently facing bribery charges involving millions of ringgit over a solar hybrid energy project for rural schools in Sarawak.

Bersatu Youth information chief Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim will be lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

The wing is seeking for Rosmah’s passport to be invalidated and for her to be brought back to the country.

“She has clearly breached the court order and is in contempt,” it said in a press invitation.

On Thursday, Rosmah missed Court of Appeal proceedings to disqualify lead prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram in her ongoing graft trial and to have the trial nullified.

However, she escaped being issued with an arrest warrant after her counsel Jagjit Singh informed the court that it was “an oversight”, and that he would take full responsibility for her absence.

Sri Ram, meanwhile, asked the appellate judges to issue Rosmah a warrant of arrest and revoke her bail.

The court had then ordered Rosmah to appear before them on Monday (December 6) at 9am.

On October 15, High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan had allowed Rosmah her passport to travel to Singapore to visit her then-pregnant daughter and had ordered her to return to Malaysia on or before November 21.

She was to have returned her passport to the authorities by December 6.

Rosmah is facing three charges under section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.

In the first charge, she is accused of soliciting RM187.5 million in bribes from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd to help secure an Education Ministry project.

The RM1.25 billion project was intended to supply power to 369 rural schools in Sarawak using a combination of solar and diesel energy.

In the second and third charges, she is accused of receiving RM1.5 million and RM5 million in bribes, respectively, as a reward for securing the project. – December 4, 2021.
