Bangladesh, Laos, Nepal set to graduate from least developed country status

THE United Nations general assembly yesterday affirmed the graduation of Bangladesh, Laos, and Nepal from the least developed country (LDC) category, said Xinhua.

In a resolution, the general assembly decided to provide the three countries, on an exceptional basis, a five-year preparatory period leading to graduation. The countries would need to plan for post-Covid-19 recovery and implement policies and strategies to reverse the economic and social damage incurred by the crisis.
