TRANSSEXUAL entrepreneur Nur Sajat, who is wanted by the Islamic authorities here and is now living in Australia, said she will be appearing on a US television programme, The Ellen Show, in January.

“In January, I will be going to the US for an interview on the Ellen programme,” the Malaysian cosmetics millionaire said in a video on TikTok.

She then said she will be heading for Singapore in February, remarking on what a packed schedule she has but adding that it is all part of work.

The Ellen Show is hosted by openly lesbian comedian and actress Ellen Degeneres.

Nur Sajat has been granted asylum in Australia after fleeing Malaysia where she is wanted by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) for failing to attend shariah court hearings to face trial for cross-dressing under state Islamic law.

Nur Sajat, whose birth name is Muhammad Sajjad Kamarul Zaman, told the New York Times in an interview previously that Malaysian religious officers sexually assaulted and groped her while she was in their custody.

She said she decided to leave Malaysia because of abuse and inhumane treatment by the authorities.

She also stirred controversy earlier this year when she announced that she wanted to leave Islam.

Nevertheless, Nur Sajat still has a huge social media following and loyal fans.

Before receiving asylum in Australia, she was arrested in Bangkok in September for an immigration offence, and revealed then that she was in the midst of awaiting relocation to Australia. – November 24, 2021.
