PAS looks on bright side despite drubbing in Malacca polls

THERE was an increase in votes for PAS in the constituencies it contested in the just-concluded Malacca state elections, its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.

The Islamist party lost in all eight constituencies it contested in the polls.

“The seats contested by PAS showed an encouraging increase in votes,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Tuan Ibrahim said the party had done its best.

“May Allah reward the efforts and sacrifices made,” he said.

The environment and water minister also thanked all voters, PAS leaders and supporters.

Barisan Nasional, which comprises Umno, MIC and MCA, won the elections with a two-third majority with 21 seats yesterday.

PAS was part of Perikatan Nasional (PN), along with Bersatu and Gerakan.

Only Bersatu won two seats under the PN banner. – November 21, 2021.
