GUJARAT, a state in west India, has courted controversy after four civic bodies ordered a ban on non-vegetarian food sales on streets as it hurts the religious sentiments of the majority Hindu community.

Opposition political parties and organisations have criticised the move as it may affect livelihoods and is against the people’s right to eat the food of their choice, reported Anadolu Agency.
