AIRASIA X Bhd (AAX) passengers affected by the airline’s debt restructuring will be given travel credits, which can be used to purchase flight tickets once international borders reopen.

These passengers will also receive a 0.5% payment of what is owed and cash-based entitlements based on the airline’s annual revenue performance over three years, as explained in a statement issued to all AAX creditors recently.

AAX issued a statement today to clarify media reports on passenger classification and their entitlements under a scheme of arrangement supported by 99% of all its creditors.

“Please note that these entitlements and travel credits can take place only if AAX is successfully restructured pursuant to the terms of the scheme,” read the statement.

“If the terms of the scheme are not complied with and the scheme fails, AAX will go into liquidation and passengers will not receive anything in return. It is not the intention of AAX to place the passengers in this situation.

“AAX policies are in line with many operators in the travel industry worldwide and fully compliant with all regulatory requirements in each of the regions in which it operates.”

The airline said it has ongoing dialogues with all consumer regulators across the region to ensure compliance and is ISO-certified for customer complaint management – a global benchmark for maintaining the highest standards. – Bernama, November 15, 2021.
