Police detain woman suspected of murdering husband

A LOCAL woman was arrested after she was suspected of stabbing her husband to death using an umbrella shaft in Kg Laksamana, Batu Caves, early today.

In the 12.35am incident, the 45-year-old victim was found lying on a bed covered in blood.

Gombak police chief Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said before the incident, the couple had an argument after the victim accused his 26-year-old wife of having an affair with another man.

He said during the quarrel, the victim had taken a pair of scissors and tried to attack his wife but the woman responded by breaking the shaft of an umbrella and stabbing her husband in the abdomen.

“The victim collapsed on the mattress and bled to death.

“Police also found the weapon used to stab the victim – an iron umbrella shaft – at the back of the suspect’s house,” he said in a statement today.

Zainal said the suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said a post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Forensics Department after a Covid-19 test report is obtained.

“Those with information can contact investigating officer I. Agilan at 03-61262222/019-5230801,” he said. – Bernama, October 20, 2021.
