Malaysia hits 70% full vaccination rate

MALAYSIA has fully vaccinated more than 70% of its population after 207,541 doses were dispensed yesterday, the CovidNow website showed. 

The date showed 70.2% of the general population in Malaysia are now fully vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus.  

About 2.3 million people, or 7.1%, of the general population have had one dose and 7.57 million, or 23.2%, remain unvaccinated.

Malaysia aims to fully inoculate 80% of the population by December 8. 

It has fully jabbed 22 million, or 94%, of adults while 763,521, or or 3.3% of them are partially vaccinated. 

Meanwhile, 940,960, 29.9%, of children aged 12-17 have received two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine while 1.54 million, or 49%, have had one dose since September 8. 

The national immunisation programme has inoculated 48.46 million people since February 24.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged those who have yet to get the shots to do so but the government does not plan to mandate the vaccine. – October 19, 2021.
