WATER supply to consumers in the Klang Valley will resume in stages starting tomorrow at 5pm, Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said.

Its corporate communications head Elina Baseri said that maintenance work for the critical assets are expected to be completed today at 11pm.

She said the water supply will be distributed in stages once the system has stabilised.

“The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of the consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

“Water supply is expected to be fully restored on Saturday at 9pm,” she said in a statement.

Air Selangor said the disruption is unavoidable as the Sg Selangor water treatment plant phase 1 will be shut down for upgrading and maintenance works.

A total of 998 areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor are affected by the water disruption, which began at 9am today and is expected to fully recover at 9pm on Saturday.

Consumers groups have also urged Air Selangor to ensure there is adequate water supply for the duration of the cuts, especially for the B40 communities, elderly and Covid-19 patients under home quarantine.

Air Selangor, as the sole water services provider in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, is responsible for abstracting, treating and distributing clean and safe water to its 8.4 million consumers.

Elina said a complete list of the affected areas, public water taps, and commercial water filling stations can also be obtained at hentitugas.airselangor.com.

She added that Air Selangor will be mobilising alternative water supply to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres, Covid-19 low-risk quarantine and treatment centre and vaccination centres, as well as for funerals.

Consumers can refer to all their official communication channels, namely the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter or contact the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300.

Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted to the help centre via www.airselangor.com and the Air Selangor application. – October 13, 2021.
