DR Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali is being questioned by police this morning for addressing the Purple Walk, a gathering of women united against the current state of Malaysian politics on September 10, 2017.

Dr Siti Hasmah, 91, the wife of opposition leader Dr Mahathir Mohamad, gave a short speech while standing on top the back of a pick-up truck to some 1,000 women dressed in purple who marched from the Maju Junction shopping mall to Pertama Complex in the city centre.

  • I'm confused as to why Dr Siti Hasmah is being questioned. Is it against the law to speak out against toxic politics in Malaysia? Or are the authorities against the colour purple?

  • It seems like our Police has nothing better to do. What a bloody useless force. Instead of protecting citizens rights to speak, it has been compromises used by the Najib government to harass critics and opppsition politicians.
