GROCERY stores, mini markets, restaurants, petrol stations and convenience stores will be allowed to operate from 6am to 12am effective tomorrow, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

He said that the decision was made at the special committee meeting on pandemic management today.

Ismail also said the committee will allow the opening of tourist centres, islands, tourist spots as well as interstate activities provided that 90% of the adult population are fully vaccinated.

He said the opening of these sectors will be based on data and analysis made by the Health Ministry.

As for other sectors, Ismail said spas, wellness centres, and health massage parlours are allowed visitors from October 1, provided the operators are fully vaccinated.

This, he said, also applied to zoos, aquariums, and jungle parks, as well as activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, for all phases of the national recovery plan, provided all visitors are fully vaccinated.

Ismail said that all employees for each business are allowed to operate at 100% capacity provided they all are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, he also said that foreigners arriving at international gateways have to bear the cost of RT-PCR testing, while for citizens it is free.

“The government calls on the people to take full advantage of these openings with full discipline and a sense of responsibility.

“Adhere to all standard operating procedure, wear a mask, practise physical distancing and always maintain personal hygiene and safety.” – September 22, 2021.
