MORE than 18.7 million people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the special committee for ensuring access to Covid-19 vaccine supply said today.

This means 80.2% of the country’s adult population and 57.5% of the general population have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 22.2 million – or 93.2% of the adult population and 68.1% of the general population – have received their first dose.

The Klang Valley now has the highest proportion of its population vaccinated, with 78.6% of its general population and 107.4% of its adult population having completed their doses.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size is yet to be accounted for by the Department of Statistics since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.

Sabah reported the lowest vaccination coverage and is the only state to have vaccinated less than 60% of the adult population.

Only 1.54 million of Sabah folks have been fully vaccinated. This translates to 55.9% of the adult population and 39.6% of the general population.

Meanwhile, 40.92 million doses of vaccine have been administered under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme with 261,255 doses dispensed yesterday.

Yesterday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said committee is also working towards covering the remaining 20% of the adult population who have yet to be vaccinated or refusing to be vaccinated. – September 22, 2021.
