THE Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) must step up its programmes to curb lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups, said Nik Abduh NIk Aziz.

“As it is, there are transgenders dominating social media without any sense of guilt while wearing women’s clothes. Is the law too lax today and unable to curb these activities?” asked the PAS Bachok lawmaker when debating the royal address today.

Nik Abduh claimed that the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) was attempting to legitimise LGBT groups by commissioning a study.

“In June, Suhakam offered researchers to do a feasibility study on legalising a third gender in Malaysia,” he said.

He said the study, “The feasibility of having legislation on the recognition of a third gender in Malaysia”, is aimed at legitimising transgenders.

“Is this fight for LGBT rights the same as human rights?” asked Nik Abduh.

He said Suhakam’s actions will only encourage the normalisation of LGBT groups.

“Bit by bit, LGBT is being normalised in our society even though the law doesn’t allow it.” – September 21, 2021.

  • The law has to recognize the facts. Not everyone fits exactly into either male or female. Its nature. How can it be wrong to live as you were born to be. We all expect to do so and persons born differently expect it too.
