Nearly 100% of adults in Klang Valley fully inoculated against Covid-19

ABOUT 99.9% or 6.15 million of the adult population in the Klang Valley has been fully vaccinated, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said today.

Following closely behind the Klang Valley is Labuan, which has vaccinated 95.9% or 65,669 of its adult population, followed by Sarawak at 88.1% or 1.79 million.

Sabah remains the only state with a vaccination rate of below 50%, with only 48.6% or 1.34 million of its adult population fully inoculated.

Nationwide, 90.5% or 21,195,780 million of the adult population has received at least one shot of the Covid-19 vaccine,

Meanwhile, 72% or 16,856,812 million of the adult population has been fully inoculated, the committee said.

This brings the total number of shots dispensed since the start of the immunisation programme in February this year to 38,001,646.

In terms of total population, 51.6% have been fully vaccinated while 64.9% have received at least one shot.

Yesterday, health authorities dispensed 287,059 vaccine shots. Of this, 111,027 were first dose while 176,032 were second dose.

According to data from Covidnow, as of yesterday, a total of 23.95 million people has registered for the vaccine while 8.7 million have not.

It projects that by September 28, 60% or 19.59 million of the total population will be fully vaccinated while 80% or 26.12 million will be fully inoculated by November 15.

Malaysia yesterday reported 21,176 new infections and 341 fatalities. The active cases in the country now stand at 242,161 active cases. – September 11, 2021.
