PENANG has started providing walk-in vaccination against Covid-19 to those aged 18 and above.

A check by Bernama at the vaccine administering centre (PPV) in Dewan Millenium, Kepala Batas, found many recipients waiting for their turn to receive the vaccine as early as 10am.

Pek Jin Wei, 18, said he was ready to get vaccinated as he would be going to college.

“I will be furthering my studies at the Two Studio Multimedia Academy (in Bukit Mertajam) so I have to be vaccinated to reduce the risks of contracting Covid-19,” he said.

Jin Wei, who was accompanied by his father, Pek Kok Lim, 45, said those who have not been vaccinated should take the opportunity to do so.

Meanwhile, Mohd Razman Ramli, 23, an eatery helper in Kampung Datuk, said he got to know about the walk-in vaccination via WhatsApp.

“I’ve come here (Dewan Millenium PPV) to get vaccinated as it’s risky working at an eatery without being vaccinated.”

The PPVs in Penang offering the walk-in vaccination include those at the SPICE Convention Centre, Sungai Nibong Pesta site, Balik Pulau Sports Complex, Perda Convention Centre, SP Arena, Seberang Jaya Expo site, Vangohh Eminent Hotel & Spa, Dewan Sungai Bakap and Dewan Serbaguna Jawi.

Yesterday, Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow announced the conditions for those wanting to get vaccinated, including showing the MyKad for citizenship confirmation, and for those who have not been vaccinated or received their appointment dates through the MySejahtera application. – Bernama, September 8, 2021.
