UNITED States President Joe Biden’s administration announced yesterday plans to open more than 32.4 million hectares in the Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas exploration after a court ruled against its pause in leasing.

The decision represents a significant step back for the White House’s ambitious climate agenda and was quickly challenged by a coalition of environmental groups.
