PUPIL Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam who was in the centre of a controversy after posting a video on TikTok where she accused a male teacher of making jokes about rape today received a letter of demand for allegedly defaming the teacher.

“Today I received a letter of demand for ‘defamatory statements’,” said the 17-year-old Ain in a tweet.

Ain and her parents were named as respondents in the letter, which demanded, among others, an apology and monetary compensation of RM1 million.

Her father, Saiful Nizam, said on Twitter they received the letter of demand from the law firm of Rasshidi Ema & Yung.

“On the advice of a lawyer, we will not provide further comments as of now,” he tweeted.

He, however, said the notice of demand came from Ain’s former physical education and health teacher.

Ain, who was pivotal in getting the #MakeSchoolASaferPlace hashtag to trend on social media, claimed in April that her school’s physical fitness and health education teacher jokingly encouraged his pupils at SMK Puncak Alam, Selangor, to commit rape.

After news of this went viral, the education ministry transferred the teacher to the state education department.

Ain also had asked to be transferred to another school. – August 4, 2021.
