15,764 fresh Covid-19 infections, Klang Valley has 7,500

MALAYSIA reported 15,764 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, taking the total caseload in the country to 1,146,186, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
 
This is the 21st consecutive day that the country has reported daily cases in five figures, which includes the record-breaking 17,786 infections on July 31.
 
Noor Hisham said that Selangor continued to record the highest cases by state with 6,067 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,536 cases and Johor with 1,222 cases.
 
Selangor has now gone to the top daily case chart by state for 102 straight days.
 
On cumulative cases by state, Selangor leads that too with 419,812 cases, with Kuala Lumpur following with 126,649 cases and Johor with 92,950 cases.
 
Other states reporting new cases are Sabah with 1,166 cases, Kedah (1,108), Negri Sembilan (862), Perak (748), Penang (667), Kelantan (552), Pahang (475), Malacca (463), Terengganu (425) and Sarawak (411).
 
Three states to report double-digit or lesser cases are Putrajaya with 46 cases, Perlis with nine cases and Labuan with seven cases.
 
Meanwhile, the daily Covid-19 vaccinations dipped to 480,122 yesterday after staying above the half-million mark for six days in a row.
 
The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said 298,236 people received their first jabs yesterday and 181,886, their second. – August 2, 2021.
