PUTRAJAYA should set a ceiling price for the Sinovac vaccine before it is sold to the public, said Wong Kah Woh.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman said the committee was aware that the government plans to allow the sale of the Covid-19 vaccine starting August and that is why it is crucial that a ceiling price is set and announced to the public.

“The committee also noted that the price for Covid-19 vaccination has started to be promoted and the price set is high compared to the price that (it) should be,” he said in a statement after its first meeting of the year since the emergency was declared.

As for today’s proceedings on the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines and its use on Malaysians, Wong said Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin was present before the PAC for the second time today.

Wong said PAC will resume proceedings on the same issue tomorrow by summoning Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Meanwhile, next week, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, together with health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, will appear before the PAC to give evidence on the same proceedings. – July 27, 2021.
