30 new Covid-19 clusters detected, 17 linked to workplaces

THIRTY new Covid-19 clusters were detected by the health authorities in the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of active clusters in the country to 931, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The director-general of health said a total of 17 clusters were reported at workplaces and eight were linked to community transmission. There were two high-risk group clusters and two religious clusters, while one cluster was traced to an educational institution registered with the government.

Of the workplace clusters, five were reported in Selangor, four in Penang, three in Johor, two in Sabah and one each in Kuala Lumpur, Kedah and Perak.

As for community transmission, three clusters were detected in Kelantan, two in Johor, and one each in Sarawak, Kedah and Pahang.

Two high-risk group clusters were detected in Kuala Lumpur, while Kelantan and Terengganu reported a religious cluster each, and Johor accounted for the sole educational sector cluster.

Noor Hisham said that the new additions today brought the total clusters in the country to 3,329, of which 2,398 have concluded. – July 21, 2021.
