12,366 new Covid-19 cases, bulk from Selangor again

MALAYSIA reported 12,366 new Covid-19 infections today, with Selangor again contributing the highest number of cases, at 5,524.

The state, with an overall tally of 332,347 cases, has now led all other states with the most number of cases for 79 straight days.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Kuala Lumpur came in second with 1,580 infections, followed by Negri Sembilan (970).

Other states that reported new cases are Johor (793), Sabah (657), Sarawak (351), Penang (460), Kelantan (179), Kedah (701), Perak (295), Malacca (309), Pahang (288) and Terengganu (190). Putrajaya and Labuan recorded 50 and 17 cases respectively.

Perlis only reported two new cases as of noon today. 

This would be the eighth consecutive day the country has reported more than 10,000 daily cases. The highest daily record was 13,215 cases on July 15. 

The nation’s cumulative number of cases now stands at 939,899. 

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered was 14.77 million as of last night. By overall population, only 14.3% have are fully vaccinated with two doses, and by adult population, 20% have received two doses. – July 20, 2021.
