MALAYSIA administered 424,936 doses of vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) yesterday, surpassing the 400,000 mark again, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said today.
The daily vaccination numbers remained above the 400,000 mark from July 12-16, even reaching a record high of 460,158 on July 15, before dipping to 380,440 on July 17 and 344,961 on July 18.
A total of 282,106 individuals were given their first dose, while the remaining 142,830 completed both vaccination jabs yesterday.
The total number of Covid-19 vaccines administered under the NIP now stands at 14.72 million.
Of this, 10.09 million or 30.9% of the adult population have been administered with one dose of vaccine while the remaining 4.67 million or 14.3% of the population were fully immunised.
Labuan tops the vaccination rate with 87.4% of its population having received one dose and 64.6% completing both doses.
Meanwhile, the Klang Valley – which includes Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya – has received a total of 5.92 million doses of vaccine, making it the highest vaccine recipient.
A total of 4.01 million or 47.6% received their first jab while 1.27 million or 15.2% completed both doses.
Putrajaya is looking to vaccinate all senior citizens in the Klang Valley with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had said all adults in Malaysia will be vaccinated by October, a new immunisation target set by the government to stem the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
He said the fast-track approach in the national Covid-19 immunisation programme includes boosting the capacity for vaccinations to 500,000 doses per day, to tackle the emergence of new more vicious variants of the virus. – July 20, 2021.
