THIRTY-SEVEN new Covid-19 clusters were traced by the Health Ministry as of noon today, a record high tally that brings the number of active clusters in Malaysia to 893, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today.
Before this, 30 clusters were recorded on July 9.
Noor Hisham said that of the 37 clusters, 19 were detected in workplaces, eight are from community transmissions, four are linked to detention centres, three are from high-risk groups, and the remainder three are from educational sectors.
The health D-G said that one of the community clusters was found in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, where 131 people tested positive for Covid-19.
He added that the Bakti 2 and the Kolam Air 2 detention centre clusters are recurring ones.
Johor has the highest number of clusters with eight, followed by Selangor with five, and Penang with four.
Other states reporting clusters are Pahang, Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur with three each, Malacca, Terengganu, Perak and Sarawak (two each), and Negri Sembilan, Kedah and Sabah (one each).
