ACTIVE Covid-19 infections peaked at 108,369 today as the country continued to report more new cases than recoveries, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said Malaysia today reported 13,215 new cases against 6,095 recoveries, which caused a huge leap in the number of active cases.
This would be the 20th consecutive day that new infections top the number of recoveries.
Of the number of active cases, 885 patients are now treated in intensive care, while 432 patients require respiratory support.
As for deaths, a total 110 succumbed to the disease, taking the national toll to 6,613.
Listing the breakdown of the fatalities, Noor Hisham said that Selangor reported 45 deaths, Kuala Lumpur (23), Negri Sembilan (11), Johor (7), Pahang (5), Kedah and Sarawak (4 each), Malacca and Kelantan (3 each), Sabah (2), as well as Penang, Perak and Labuan (1 each). β July 15, 2021.
