13 of 19 new Covid-19 clusters linked to workplaces

THE Health Ministry reported 19 new Covid-19 clusters as of noon today, taking the number of active clusters in the country to 865, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.  

The director-general of health said 13 of the new clusters were linked to workplaces, five were community transmissions and one was detected among a high-risk group. 

Kuala Lumpur reported the highest number of clusters with six, followed by Johor (four) and Selangor (three). 

Perak and Kelantan reported two clusters each, while one cluster each was traced in Penang and Sabah. 

The workplace clusters are:

1. Jalan Rukun in Kuala Selangor, Selangor (75 cases); 

2. Jalan Thean Teik construction site in northeast Penang (47 cases); 

3. Jalan Cengal in Muar, Johor (45 cases); 

4. Jalan Subang 13 in Petaling and Hulu Langat, Selangor (29 cases);

5. Jalan Industry Dua Rawang in Gombak, Selangor (27 cases); 

6. Kg Perangkap in Pasir Mas and Tumpat, Kelantan (24 cases); 

7. Cahaya Yong Peng in Batu Pahat and Kluang, Johor (19 cases); 

8. Kayu Patikang in Keningau, Sabah (19 cases); 

9. Jalan Pantai Baharu in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur (17 cases); 

10. Jalan Sri Hartamas Satu in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (17 cases); 

11. Solar Beriah construction site in Kerian, Perak (16 cases); 

12. Jalan Dedap 13 in Johor Baru and Kota Tinggi, Johor (12 cases); and 

13. Bandar Baru Tunjong in Kota Baru and Pasir Mas, Kelantan (six cases).

The community clusters are:

1. Batu Muda in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (197 cases); 

2. Kg Padang Balang in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (79 cases); 

3. Taman Koperasi Polis in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (67 cases); 

4. Melor Intan in Hilir Perak, Perak (21 cases); and 

5. Jalan Mawar Belitong in Kluang, Johor (12 cases). 

The cluster involving a high-risk group is Jalan Awan Cempaka in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur with 21 cases.

Noor Hisham said the total number of clusters in the country stands at 3,077, with 2,212 of them having ended. β€“ July 11, 2021.
