MALAYSIA is on track to achieving its herd immunity target as Covid vaccinations yesterday exceeded 300,000 for the fifth day running, said Health Minister Dr Adham Baba.
He said 337,478 people received their jabs yesterday to reach ahead of schedule the government’s goal of inoculating 10% of the population by mid-month
Adham said 213,396 of the jabs yesterday were first doses and 124,082, second doses.
The record shows 313,761 doses were administered on July 5, 340,043 (July 6), 375,842 (July 7) and 376,909 (July 8).
Adham congratulated the healthcare workers and volunteers at the vaccination on the achievement.
“You have done something excellent and Malaysia is now on track towards achieving its herd immunity target,” he said.
A total 10.75 million doses have been administered so far under the national immunisation plan, with 7.43 million people, or 22.8% of the population having had their first shot and 3.31 million, or 10.2% of the population, the full course of two doses.
It is estimated that 30 in every 100 jabs are second doses. – July 10, 2021.
