22 new Covid-19 clusters, 16 linked to workplaces

MALAYSIA reported 22 new Covid-19 clusters today, taking the total number of active clusters in the country to 880, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said of the new clusters, 16 are linked to workplaces while the rest are community transmissions. 

He said Selangor recorded the most workplace clusters with four, followed by Kuala Lumpur with three.

All three clusters in Kuala Lumpur involve construction sites. 

Johor, Negri Sembilan and Malacca contributed two workplace clusters each while Sarawak, Kedah and Kelantan recorded one each. 

As for the community transmission, Sarawak reported two clusters while Terengganu, Kelantan, Johor and Kedah detected one each. 

The workplace clusters are: 

1. Industry Waja 2 in Kuala Langat and Klang, Selangor (29 cases);

2. Industry Jalan Laksamana Satu in Klang, Selangor (29 cases); 

3. Industry Jalan Dolomite Dua in Gombak, Selangor (6 cases); 

4. Lingkaran Eco Majestic construction site in Hulu Langat, Selangor (24 cases); 

5. Jalan Wangsa 2 construction site in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (23 cases); 

6. Jalan Kiara Tujuh construction site in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (11 cases); 

7. Jalan Kasipillay construction site in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (18 cases); 

8. Jalan Tanjung Puteri Satu in Johor Baru, Johor (6 cases); 

9. Jalan Kebun Bakri in Muar, Johor (9 cases); 

10. Industry Persiaran Bunga Tanjung Satu in Seremban, Negri Sembilan (16 cases); 

11. Industry Bunga Tanjung Dua in Seremban, Negri Sembilan (26 cases); 

12. Industry Teknologi Cheng 22 in Malacca Tengah and Alor Gajah, Malacca (36 cases); 

13. Business City in Malacca Tengah, Malacca (23 cases); 

14. Jalan Semariang in Kuching, Sarawak (36 cases);

15. Dah Sembilan Industry Sg Petani in Kuala Muda, Kedah (18 cases); and 

16. Bandar Baru Lubok Jong in Pasir Mas, Kelantan (7 cases).

The community transmission clusters are: 

1. Simpang Koko in Sarikei, Sarawak (59 cases); 

2. Luteng in Telang Usan, Sarawak (44 cases); 

3. Kubang Jela in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (19 cases); 

4. Kg Telosan in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan (10 cases); 

5. Jalan Gunung Lapan in Johor Baru, Johor (9 cases); and

6. Dah Sawi in Kulim, Kedah (27 cases).

Noor Hisham said the total number of clusters in the country now stands at 2,794. 

He added that 1,914 clusters have ended as of today. – June 28, 2021.
