30 new Covid-19 clusters, 20 linked to workplaces

MALAYSIA has traced a record-equalling 30 new Covid-19 clusters today, taking the number of active clusters in the country to 867, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said that 20 clusters were linked to workplaces, nine were community transmission groups and one was a high-risk group.

Of the clusters today, nine were detected in Selangor, four in Kuala Lumpur, three each in Negri Sembilan, Kedah and Johor, two each in Sarawak, Sabah and Kelantan, and one each in Perak and Pahang.

One workplace cluster in Klang, Selangor and one community transmission group in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur were the biggest contributors of the cases in clusters, as 101 cases were detected in each of these clusters.

With the addition of the new clusters, Noor Hisham said the total number of clusters in the country has reached 2,720 and of them, 1,853 clusters have ended. – June 24, 2021.
