DAILY Covid-19 cases continued to increase for the third straight day with the country reporting 5,841 fresh infections as of noon today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The country saw a dip in the number of new cases on June 21, when 4,611 infections were reported, the lowest figure since mid-May. However, the figure has been on the rise since.
Selangor once again topped the number of new cases by state, at 2,072, followed by Negri Sembilan (781) and Sarawak (581).
Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak have now occupied these respective spots for a second consecutive day.
Kuala Lumpur reported 552 cases today.
All states in the country reported new cases in the past 24 hours.
Malaysia’s overall caseload now stands at 716,847, with Selangor leading the chart with 235,120 cases, a vast difference from Kuala Lumpur, which has reported 73,196 cases, and Johor with 69,174.
The Health Ministry also reported that Malaysia administered 252,730 vaccine doses yesterday, exceeding the daily target of 200,000.
This brings the cumulative shots administered to 6.56 million, of which 4.75 million are first doses while 1.8 million people have received both doses. – June 24, 2021.
