KL, Putrajaya hit 100% vaccination sign-ups

KUALA Lumpur and Putrajaya have seen 100% registration for vaccination, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply. 

A total of 1.38 million people or 100% of the targeted population in Kuala Lumpur had registered for vaccination while Putrajaya logged 76,536 registrations. 

The state with the lowest number of registrations was Sabah at 804,851, or merely 29.18% of the targeted population. 

Deputy Sabah Chief Minister Bung Moktar Radin recently urged Putrajaya to allow the state to buy its own vaccines from Pharmaniaga Bhd to speed up the immunisation drive, saying the rollout in Sabah is slow.

As for other states, Sarawak reported 1,509,557 registrations (73.9%), Labuan 53,938 (78.74%), Negri Sembilan 603,702 (74.13%), Malacca 486,641 (71.84%), Penang 979,770 (71.66%), Johor 1,924,907 (70.98%), Perlis 119,867 (66.15%), Perak 1,099,539 (66.15%), Kedah 900,811 (58.47%), Pahang 684,762 (58.24%) and Kelantan 596,000 (48.21%).

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur reported the highest number of vaccinations with 724,684 getting their first dose and 142,094 given their second dose as of yesterday. 

Sabah, on the other hand, has administered 323,350 first doses and 133,026 second doses as of yesterday. 

Nationwide, a total of 5.81 million doses have been administered under the national Covid-19 vaccination drive so far. 

Yesterday Malaysia reported 5,293 positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s caseload to 696,408.

Selangor continued to log the highest number of new cases among the states at 1,680, while Kuala Lumpur reported 379 cases, which would mean that Klang Valley alone recorded 2,063 cases yesterday – four in Putrajaya. – June 21, 2021.
