Dr Mahathir leaves after audience with Agong

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad spent about 30 minutes at the Istana Negara for an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah this afternoon.

The Pejuang chairman, who arrived for his 2.30pm appointment in a grey Proton X70, was the third party leader to meet the king today.

He left the palace about 3pm.

The Langkawi MP is scheduled to hold an online press conference on his meeting at 4.30pm today.

Before him, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and MCA president Dr Wee Ka Siong had separate audiences with the king in the morning.

Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal will be next for a meeting with the king at 3.30pm.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu met the Agong.

Anwar said there was no mention of a new government.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to have an audience with the king tomorrow.

The king is also set to chair a special meeting involving the Malay Rulers on June 16 to discuss efforts to combat Covid-19 during the Emergency period. – June 10, 2021.
