MIC has welcomed the appointment of Zambry Abd Kadir as the new Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general, saying he was rightfully appointed in line with the coalition’s constitution.
MIC secretary-general M. Asojan Muniandy said Zambry’s appointment was by the consent of all parties in the BN coalition.
“There were no other proposals and he was the only candidate for the position,” Asojan told The Malaysian Insight.
Zambry, a former menteri besar of Perak, was named BN secretary-general in a supreme council meeting held online last night.
“With Zambry as the secretary-general, we can now expect better administration of BN.”
Zambry is BN’s third secretary-general this year, after Ahmad Maslan and Annuar Musa, with the latter sacked in January.
Annuar, who was accused of being close to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s Bersatu party, was sacked from his post and replaced by Ahmad Maslan on January 5 this year.
Ahmad, in a Twitter post last night, said he had stepped down from the position at the end of February 2021. However, he still remains Umno secretary-general. – June 9, 2021.
