AFTER two days of reduced number of infections, the country recorded 7,105 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

On Sunday the country registered 6,999 cases and 6,824 yesterday, which brought a sigh of relief to Malaysians as cases were in the 8,000 to 9,000 region in previous days.

Tweeting the latest figures, the director-general of health said Selangor once again topped the daily case chart with 2,068 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 817 cases and Sarawak with 703 cases.

This would be the 40th consecutive day Selangor has reported the most cases by states.

Perlis was the only state to have not recorded any cases in the past 24 hours.

Malaysia’s total caseload is now at 579,462, of which 188,994 are registered in Selangor alone, equivalent to 32.6% of the total number of cases reported in the country.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said as of yesterday, a total of 3,008,429 doses of vaccine have been administered.

He said this was an addition of 95,420 doses compared to May 30, which was at 2,913,009 doses.
