THE Covid-19 Task Force will deploy trucks in Kuala Lumpur to deliver jabs in a bid to ramp up the immunisation effort, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The coordinating minister for the national vaccination campaign said the mobile outreach programme will pilot in the city’s PPR housing schemes and construction sites that remain open during the June 1-14 lockdown.

This was agreed upon after discussion with Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, he said.

“The mobile trucks will drive vaccination in highly infected areas,” Khairy said today at his weekly press conference with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba on inoculation efforts today.

Khairy, who is the science, technology and innovation minister, did not specifically mention when the pilot project, an initiative by the Federal Territories Ministry, will begin.

Khairy said the ministry targets to use 30 mobile vaccination centres for the vaccination exercise.

He said each truck will carry around 100 doses of vaccine a day.

Khairy, however, said the government will take into consideration the outcome of the mobile outreach pilot project before deciding whether it can be conducted on a larger scale. – May 31, 2021.
