Terengganu wants MCO exemption for rice planting


Terengganu wants the federal government to allow rice planting across the state so the harvest can take place before flood season at the end of the year. – Bernama, May 30, 2021.

THE Terengganu government will ask the National Security Council to allow paddy planting across the state during the nationwide movement control order (MCO) from June 1.

Agriculture, agro-based industry and rural development committee chairman Azman Ibrahim said new paddy planting should be carried out as scheduled from June 5 to enable the crop to be harvested before the flood season, which usually occurs at the end of the year.
