Rapid Rail tells May 27, 28 LRT and MRT commuters to get tested

LIGHT and mass rail transit (LRT and MRT) passengers who used the service during peak hours on May 27 and May 28 have been urged to get tested for Covid-19 if they have symptoms.

The advice comes after two commuters who used the service at peak hours on these dates tested positive.

“Health screening is recommended for those who used the LRT service from Taman Melati and KLCC during the morning rush hour on May 27,” said Rapid Rail in a statement today

A passenger named Claudia Nuriman, in a post on her Twitter account @claudianuriman, said she boarded the Wangsa Maju LRT train to Pasar Seni and then continued her journey using the MRT service to Semantan Station.

Her trip was between 7.30am and 8.30am on May 28.

Another Twitter account owner Nurul Aisyah @asyxxi said that she also tested positive for Covid-19 and advised passengers who boarded the LRT train from Taman Melati to KLCC on the morning of May 27 to immediately undergo a screening test. She travelled between 8am and 9am.

According to Rapid Rail, passengers are advised to always adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) when using the trains.

The company also urged passengers to always wear masks, and, if possible, wear two at a time.

Earlier today, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah vented his frustrations on Twitter about Malaysians who were still disobeying movement restrictions despite the rapid increase in Covid-19 infections.

He posted photos of the traffic congestion on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway near the Gombak Toll Plaza this morning headed towards Genting Highlands and Bentong, Pahang.

Malaysia hit another grim record today, with 9,020 new Covid-19 infections reported over the past 24 hours, the country’s highest to date.

Noor Hisham also tweeted that cases could go up to 13, 000 daily if the infectivity rate rose to 1.2, and if SOP were not adhered to. – May 29, 2021.
