TWELVE private hospitals in three states have been roped in to be vaccine dispensing centres (PPVs) for the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP).
ProtectHealth Corporation chief executive officer Anas Alam Faizili said vaccination at these hospitals will start tomorrow.
He said a combined total of 2,250 doses of vaccines will be made available daily, with doses continued to be enhanced every week.
“It is hereby announced that 12 private hospitals will begin operating tomorrow as PPV HS, beginning with a combined total of 2,250 doses per day under the NIP, and will be continuously increased every week,” Anas tweeted today.
The hospitals selected to be PPVs are in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak.
ProtectHealth is an initiative under the Ministry of Health (MOH) to coordinate with private hospitals to ramp up the vaccination in the country.
The vaccination at these PPVs is free and similar vaccines given under the NIP – Pfizer and Sinovac – will be administered on the people.
The PPVs in Selangor are:
1. KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital and
2. MSU Medical Centre.
Those in Negri Sembilan are:
1. Nilai Medical Centre,
2. Senawang Specialist Hospital,
3. UCSI Hospital,
4. KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital and
5. Mawar Medical Centre.
Those in Sarawak are:
1. Columbia Asia Hospital in Miri,
2. KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital,
3. Rejang Medical Centre,
4. Timberland Medical Centre and
5. Borneo Medical Centre.
A total of 2,388,487 doses of vaccines have been administered as of May 23.
According to figures released by the special committee on Covid-19 vaccine supply, 1,509,103 people have received their first dose while 879,384 have had both doses. – May 24, 2021.
