THE Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has approved Pharmaniaga’s application for on-site vaccination at its vaccine bottling factory, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

Pharmaniaga’s application to run the public-private partnership (PPP) immunisation model, a parallel vaccination programme for the manufacturing and services sectors, was approved by the CITF as it is considered a pilot project.

The PPP model is not yet open to other industries for now, said the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) coordinating minister.

Pharmaniaga, which bottles the Sinovac vaccine, has also procured its own supply of vaccines for its workers, he said.

“CITF has approved an application by a factory to start a pilot project for the PPP model programme. The factory is Pharmaniaga,” Khairy said at his weekly press conference on the national inoculation drive.

“Pharmaniaga has already bought its own vaccines to be given to its workers.

“CITF approved the application because Pharmaniaga is a vaccine factory, where it bottles the Sinovac vaccine.

“I don’t want Pharmaniaga to have an infection and the vaccine factory to be closed.”

Last week, the science, technology and innovation minister said the PPP model would only commence when there is sufficient vaccine supply. – May 17, 2021.
